Ice Cream Treat
The children had a wonderful time on Friday eating their favorite ice cream in a cone to celebrate "I" week. We voted for our favorite flavor on Thursday and Chocolate was the big winner. (Chocolate happens to be my favorite flavor too!). The children were all saying, "I love kindergarten."

Cranberry Thanksgiving
This is a wonderful book to read with your child for Thanksgiving. We read this book and identified words we are learning to read. Have you ever seen a cranberry bog? This story takes place in New England and a grandmother tries to keep her cranberry recipe a secret.
I enjoyed sharing this book with the children. I grew up in New England and took many trips to Cape Cod. There you will find many cranberry bogs. This book comes with a recipe to make cranberry bread.

Green Eggs and Ham to Celebrate "G" Week
Thank you Miss Pat for inviting the kindergarten children to your class for Green Eggs and Ham. We had a great morning that began with reading Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss.
One of our students helped Miss Pat scramble the green eggs.

Thanksgiving Food Drive Begins November 3, 2010
Each year The Heiskell School takes part in collecting nonperishable items for a family who feeds many at Thanksgiving. Make this a great family project to shop for canned goods and other nonperisable items to share this Thanksgiving.
We teach the children that Thanksgiving is a time to Give Thanks and reach out to others.

Jonah and the Runaway Prophet
The children enjoyed a great field trip right at school seeing a wonderful puppet show about Jonah and the Runaway Prophet. Ask your little one to share the story with you.
